Men often feel insecure opening up to their guy friends

Most men find it difficult to share their vulnerabilities with their guy friends.

We only feel safe enough to talk about our issues with our guy friends when we are either intoxicated or we share our feelings with our female friends because we feel that they are less likely to judge us.

We do this because when we are intoxicated our inhibitions are down and sometimes, we could be too drunk or high to even remember that we talked about something. Our friends are also less likely to be judgmental of what we share.

However, the need to be intoxicated in order to feel safe highlights the extent of dysfunction that is present in society today.

The mental, physical and spiritual risks associated with intoxication is a topic all on its own which I will share another time.

Most often this starts very early on in our childhood through our own mother and father who themselves were witness to the same by their own parents.

We first need to start being real with ourselves to determine the root cause of this insecurity. Once we recognize this issue, it is important that we heal it within ourselves.
